Mount Archer National Park

If you stand on one of the school’s balcony’s you can see the tip of Mount Archer straight ahead(first picture).  Named for the seven Archer brothers who first settled the Rockhampton area.  There’s another peak just beyond, above the rainforest, which I just named Mount Smyth in honour of all those Smyth brothers. Come and see it sometime.  It's the second picture.

We started at the bottom of the mountain, in the car, but the fit Aussies climb it on their bicycles at the end of their work day.  Exercise before supper!   Half way up the mountain my ears popped.  I had a little bit of vertigo, made the mistake of looking straight down, no guard rail.

Approximately 2000 feet later we are at the top.  What a view.  All of the city of Rockhampton and the farmland beyond on one side and a deep valley of rainforest on the other.  Magical!  Walking trails and picnic areas, no camping allowed.  But there are a few livyers who have laid claim to land from generations before.  Imagine their vistas every morning!!
