Rockhampton Zoo

The zoo pictures tell the tale or tails! 

Then we toured the botanical gardens and had John's prepared picnic. Where did that come from???  I was impressed.

Botanical Gardens  (Absolutely stunning)

Within the gardens is the Rockhampton Memorial.  All over Australia, in cities, towns, schools, everywhere - there is a very respectful reverence, on the part of everyone, to those who participate in international conflicts.  With over 200 air and sea raids on Australia during WWII, they don't mind displaying their rembrance on a daily basis.  There are at least 5 memorials on John's school campus erected as a tribute to former students.  One of their memorial walls is pictured below. 

Respite at last! 
He gives me a break and we go for a swim in the school pool.  Marks me  B+ on my swimming.

Dinner and a Show

Went to dinner at The Edge which is located on the footsteps of  the Fitzroy River, atmosphere is  casual and rather chic at the same time!  Strolled in off the beachfront for a sumptuous meal.  Next door is the Pilbeam comedy theatre where John took me for an evening of laughs with British comedian Ross Noble.  Stand-up comedy. He comes with "about four words on a scrap of paper" and plays off the audience for an hour and a half. Improv and irreverence at its best!  You don't get up to go to the washroom, you don't sneeze, or snuggle with your significant other-he'll never let you forget it!

This tour guide Mr. Smyth is relentless!  Our day was full!  Came home and literally fell into bed! AND, this is only day two.  Dear God, preserve me.
